GOMS Models for Task Analysis
نویسنده
چکیده
Analyzing a task into Goals, Operators, Methods, and Selection rules (GOMS) is an established method for characterizing a user's procedural knowledge. When combined with additional theoretical mechanisms, the resulting GOMS model provides a way to quantitatively predict human learning and performance for an interface design, in addition to serving as a useful qualitative description of how the user will use a computer system to perform a task. This chapter focusses on GOMS models as a taskanalytic notation and how to construct them.

Specifying ACT-R models of user interaction with a GOMS language
We describe a system, G2A, that produces ACT-R models from GOMS models. The GOMS models can contain hierarchical methods, visual and memory stores, and control constructs. G2A allows ACT-R models to be built much more quickly, in hours rather than weeks. Because GOMS is a more abstract formalism than ACT-R, most GOMS operators can be plausibly translated in different ways into ACT-R productions...
متن کاملGOMS, GOMS+, and PDL
The expressiveness of the GOMS language for describing “how-to” knowledge determines what kinds of human activities can be captured by a GOMS task analysis. This paper addresses the adequacy of this framework for representing human behavior in realistically time-pressured, uncertain, and otherwise demanding task environments. Several improvements have been incorporated into a GOMS-like formalis...

متن کاملA Composite Task Meta-model as a Reference Model
In this paper we develop a comprehensive composite meta-model from Task Analysis models called the Reference Task Meta-model (ReTaMeta model) for the purpose of comparing numerous Agent-Oriented meta-models. The reference model needed to be derived from a field independent of the Agent-oriented paradigm, yet based on Psychology. To arrive at the ReTaMeta model we first extracted the meta-models...
